Australian singer-songwriter, Emmi, was the voice of one of the most memorable background characters in the Fantastic Beasts film, the singing goblin in The Blind Pig. Emmi sat down with Mashable a few days ago for a live facebook interview to spill the details of her part in the Fantastic Beasts.

Emmi said that she was contacted out of the blue and told that they wanted her to record a strange song for a film. The lyrics weren’t ones that Emmi had ever seen before or would ever have expected to see, with words like “hippogriff” and “billywig.” She immediately knew that this was not a normal job that came around everyday.

“That’s when I realized that a) the song is going to be used with my voice on it, and b) that I was going to be in it, giving inspiration to the movement of the character,” said Emmi. “So I found out that day.”

Emmi sent the recording in August of last year and then was contacted in April to schedule a motion capture session. Emmi hadn’t realized that she was not only going to be the voice of the goblin singer, but also the face.

Emmi didn’t get to see herself as the goblin until the film’s premiere, she said the whole experience was a little fuzzy.

“I need to go and see it again because I was just so overwrought with it all!” Emmi said. “It’s just such a magnificent production, and I’ve had the pleasure of sitting in on scoring sessions and stuff. So once you know how much mastery goes into a film like that it’s almost overwhelming.”

Some of Emmi’s performance can be seen in the soundtrack trailer:
