As the release date for The Lost City of Z nears, the promotional wave rolls out a second official trailer and new poster.

The film stars Robert Pattinson, known to fans as the brave but ill-fated Cedric Diggory of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire fame. He is the aide de camp of British explorer Percy Fawcett, portrayed by Charlie Hunnam. Together they embark on an epic adventure to find the ‘City of Zed.’

A previous Leaky post gave the following detailed synopsis:

“The [film] is set in the early 1900s and covers the true story of WWI veteran Percy Fawcett’s (Hunnam) multiple expeditions into the Amazon. His sole aim is to prove the existence of an ancient civilization in defiance of the skeptical scientific community. But he’s a conflicted man, driven to succeed in his search while torn by every heart-wrenching departure from his wife (Miller) and family. Robert Pattinson plays Henry Costin, the close comrade-in-arms who assists Fawcett in his dangerous trek into the South American jungle.”

Check out the poster unveiled by Flickering Myth, below. It features an outside view of the hauntingly-lit trail through the dense and treacherous jungle. This beautifully emphasizes the unsettling eeriness that pervades the place, as well as the intense anticipation and infectious excitement of reaching the pinnacle, as the glow spreads up the hill toward the (hopeful) end of the long journey.

The new trailer also touches on Fawcett’s sense of urgency, almost bordering on mania. His obsessive commitment is counter-balanced at every turn by the doubts of those around him. Toward the end of the trailer, even his friend Henry Costin (Pattinson) is uncertain whether the potential reward is worth the ever-mounting human toll. Watch the trailer here.

The Lost City of Z is set to open in UK theaters March 24th and U.S. theaters on April 14th. For the full Flickering Myth coverage of the newly-released poster and trailer, read here.
