Yesterday was a big day for Newt Scamander and his fantastic beasts, along with the release of a newly updated version of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them textbook also came a new audiobook version narrated by Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander himself.

The updated version includes six new creatures as well as a foreword to tie in new information released by J.K. Rowling either on Pottermore or via the Fantastic Beasts movie. As a celebration of the release of the new edition, Pottermore commissioned artist Andy Singleton to create these spectacular visuals of the new beasts in 3D paper model form.

The brand new creatures featured are the Snallygaster, Hodag and Hidebehind, as well as Ilvermorny house mascots Thunderbird, Horned Serpent and Wampus Cat.

Particularly notable are the new beasts, the Snallygaster, Hidebehind and Hoddag, wonderfully created by Singleton and making us even more excited to meet more Fantastic Beasts in the next films!

A relative of the Occamy, Singleton portrayed the Snallygaster’s hybrid nature well using wings, beak and talons similar to those of an eagle and a reptilian style tail and tongue and teeth:
