Big news today for Anthony Boyle; the original  Scorpius Malfoy in Harry Potter and The Cursed Child!  He’s not only making the transfer from Cursed Child in London’s West End all the way across the pond to Broadway’s Lyric Theater, as covered here by Leaky, but he’ll be entering an entirely different sort of magical world.

Boyle, who took home the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role as Scorpius earlier this year, will be joining the cast of the biopic film Tolkien about the life of iconic writer J.R.R. Tolkien, author of the Lord of the Rings series. An article by PureWow , describes the film;

“Tolkien will take place prior to the outbreak of World War I in 1914 and follow the story of the twenty-something writer as he navigates life, love, friendship and education.”

The film stars Nicholas Hoult in the lead role and Lily Collins, as Edith Bratt, Tolkien’s great love, and eventual wife who inspired the elven princess characters in the saga. Boyle’s role is not yet known, but it’s gotta be good considering the tweet Boyle sent out:

In addition, Boyle was honored this weekend with a prize from the International Achievement Recognition Awards which highlight outstanding talents and initiatives in the music, TV/film, theater, and fashion industries. Their website also has this to say about their accolades,

“This annual prestigious award ceremony was founded in 2014, aimed at celebrating exceptional talents and organisations for excellence, diversity, equality and innovations.”

“We strongly believe that by celebrating, rewarding, raising awareness and empowering people committed to bringing about change; together we can start a new chapter with equal opportunities for everyone.”

“At IARA, there is no segregation, we acknowledge the significant efforts of extraordinary talents irrespective of their race, belief, disability, gender, age sexual orientation or religion.”

Boyle won the Best Actor category for his role as Scorpius in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Other nominees included Dirk Gently’s Samuel Barnett, Arnold Oceng, James Floyd from Good Karma Hospital, and Arinze Kene from The Pass.

Congratulations to Anthony Boyle on his new film, and this most recent achievement. And of course, we look forward to seeing him reprise his role as Scorpius on Broadway!
