Wizards and Witches on the Catwalk

Fun

With the notable exception of snazzy purple suit aficionado Albus Dumbledore, wizards are not known for their fashion sense.  This is especially true when they attempt to imitate Muggle attire—or decline to do so, as in the case of Archie Aymslowe’s refusal to wear Muggle trousers at the Quidditch World Cup because he liked “a healthy breeze around his privates”.

That’s not necessarily true the other way around.  Muggle designers have created some amazing Wizarding World-inspired fashions.  The costume designers for all of the films have impressed us with everything from Snape’s buttoned trouser cuffs at Harry’s first Quidditch match to the Macusa president’s predilection for turbans.

At this year’s New York Fashion week, designer Vaquera’s models strutted down the catwalk to the Harry Potter theme music wearing a “haunted high school”-themed collection that included a t-shirt featuring Draco Malfoy’s face.

Across the pond, at London Fashion Week, designer Ryan Lo accessorised his outfits with wizards hats and brooms in lively pastel colours.
