Looks like the rumors were true! After leaked documents revealed a plan for a Hagrid-themed coaster replacing the Dragon Challenge in Universal Orlando Resort’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter, speculation on the motorbike carts and magical creature theme has been confirmed today, as the park announced the opening date and released a new official photo of the ride!

The ride will open June 13th, and is called Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure. An official press release from Universal Orlando Resort reads:

“Universal Orlando Resort today revealed the name and opening date for the highly-anticipated, new adventure coming to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter this summer.

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will open on June 13, 2019 in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and feature the most highly-themed coaster yet. For the first time ever, guests will fly with Hagrid on a thrilling roller coaster ride that plunges into the path of some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures.

Stay tuned – more details about the incredible new experience will be revealed in March.

It’s not known just yet what opening event there might be, but seeing as Celebration of Harry Potter was cancelled to focus on the opening of this new ride, and openings at the Wizarding World have always been a spectacle in the past, we’re hoping the ride will get a huge welcome to the park! Do you think Robbie Coltrane could attend? Will you be trying to get tickets to the opening?

Creatures from the new Fantastic Beasts film series such as the niffler, bowtruckle and thestral also appear in the Harry Potter books, so this ride also has the potential for a series crossover, as well as featuring several creatures from the Potter film series, likely with the aid of filmmaking wizards and prop designers who helped bring Buckbeak, Aragog and the Triwizard dragons to life.

See a new photo of the ride below, and visit the Universal Orlando website for more details here.
