Hey, crafty folk! Is anyone else totally excited for the upcoming Halloween/Day of the Dead/Samhain festivities?
If I weren’t treading in a sea of homework and fighting off what I truly hope isn’t the flu, I’d be bouncing up and down in anticipation. Although it has continued to be difficult for me to find time to leisurely work on my crafts, I have the deadline of Halloween to press me into action. Pressure always seems to help get me motivated.
Halloween this year is a fun pressure though; a friend and I are planning a Halloween party to which we’ve invited as many people as we can think of. Kassy is a crafty girl too, and we will be incorporating lots of diy ideas into our décor and food.
Kassy especially loves Halloween and has done most of the creative footwork for me, so really all I need to do is help. Last night for instance, we spent a couple of hours glitter-fying some foam human bones while daydreaming of the plethora of other crafty stuffs we’ll be preparing. She has planned several food appetizers that are shaped like body parts, which I’m quite excited about. There will be a few adult beverages that are ghoulishly themed. I’m especially excited about those. She’s also prepared some fun party favors in the form of bookmarks and mixed CDs with homemade labels. Our guests will be spoiled, thanks to Kassy and I get to be a little crafty, thanks to Kassy.
So that’s what’s going on with me. I’m going to try to get over whatever this illness is and spend the next few days cleaning, decorating, carving a pumpkin, and preparing my Halloween costume (which sadly isn’t homemade, nor very creative.)
Speaking of Halloween, please remember that the Crafty Witches have a Halloween / Deathday party contest going on in the Leaky Lounge. When you’re preparing for Halloween, be sure to snap pictures of what you’ve done to share with us!
Cheers,
