Halloween Down Under

As we all know, Halloween has just passed. Living in Australia, we don’t do much in the way of celebrating this holiday. At the most someone will have a dress-up party ’ at least, I will beg someone to have one! ’ but we are lucky if more than two people who make the effort to come in costume. Us Aussies are just too lazy! (Or easy-going, however you want to say it.)

I spent the week leading up to Halloween kind of wishing I was American. Finding a pumpkin to carve was hard enough – $25 for an orange ˜Halloween pumpkin’! I’m not kidding! In the end I had to settle for a $2 grey pumpkin, but it still worked a treat. And not to mention the trick-or-treating. People are lucky to get a carrot if anything at all.

So this year I decided to immerse myself in some costuming and pumpkin-carving all on my lonesome. Yeah, what a loser! But I had fun. I got to be creative and got to try a new craft, which is always a bonus!

I’m asking all you fellow Aussie Leakyers, do you actually celebrate Halloween?

Do you have awesome parties with costumes and decorations and fancy food?

If you do, I am so jumping on your ship for next year!
