The Harry Potter cast is keeping us on our toes as usual this week! If one thing remains true it’s that they are as active as ever, which is great news for fans as we love to see our favorite cast members on the stage and screen again. Today we’ve got information on Bill Nighy, John Hurt, Jason Isaacs, Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Bonnie Wright and more! We’ve also got news not just for Potter fans but also covering Love Actually, Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Game of Thrones.

We’ll start off with addressing the current activities of some of our older cast members. First we’ve got the upcoming Love Actually sequel, titled Red Nose Day Actually, which we’ve guessed from some of these clues released by director Emma Freud on Twitter, will once again be featuring Bill Nighy, who we know from Harry Potter as Rufus Scrimgeour, as the legendary Billy Mac.

The 20 minute, made for TV, short film will be shown on Friday March 24th. We still are deeply saddened that Alan Rickman is no longer with us to star in the sequel and that, out of respect for him, Emma Thompson has chosen not partake either.

On the sad note of cast members who are no longer with us, the late John Hurt (our beloved Ollivander), who passed in January, will be honored in an upcoming issue of Doctor Who magazine. Sir John starred as the War Doctor in the episode The Day Of The Doctor in 2013, playing an unknown incarnation of the Time Lord. Former Time Lord David Tennant, who fans should also recognize from Harry Potter as Barty Crouch Jr., and the show’s executive producer Steven Moffat, as well as a few other fellow actors from the show will be paying tribute to the actor. dr. who

Jason Isaacs, Harry Potter’s Lucius Malfoy, announced some big news on twitter yesterday also:

Originally he tweeted it too early and then deleted the tweet, but it was later confirmed by the Hollywood Reporter that he will in fact be playing the captain of the Starship Discovery in the latest Star Trek series. The 13 episode series for CBS, after being delayed twice now is set to air in late summer or fall of 2017.

Jim Broadbent, known to Potter fans as Horace Slughorn, also revealed some big news about his character in the next season of Game of Thrones. When his addition to the cast was first announced back in August, the details of his role were kept a secret but fans began to speculate as all fans do and suspected his character was most likely to be Maester Marwyn. In a recent interview, however, when he was asked whom he would be playing Broadbent replied:

“I’m a maester, an archmaester. I’m an old professor character. I did five episodes. I did sort of one major scene in each episode.”

He also admitted to spending scenes with Sam Tarley and to having a fairly significant role. Although he didn’t specifically confirm the character’s name, it certainly supported fan theories. Either way we are excited to catch him in action when the next season airs.

A recent change in a West End theater policy banning the consumption of food during the performance might have been due to the influence of Imelda Staunton, Dolores Umbridge. Staunton has voice on numerous occasions how much she hates audience members eating during a show, and although it is not confirmed that the change was made specifically at her request, it is believed that her preferences likely had some influence on the change.

No that we’ve covered all the big news from our older actors, we’ve got some recent appearances by the younger cast members in media as well.

Rupert Grint was on the Late Show with James Corden discussing how he is frequently confused for Ed Sheeran by fans. Of course, being the jokester he is, Grint said most of the time he just goes along with it. Catch the video below:

Emma Watson revealed in a recent interview with ET that the Harry Potter cast still keep in touch using a group messenger app called WhatsApp.

“We actually have a group WhatsApp which invited everyone really from the main cast from Harry Potter to come to the screening,” the 26-year-old actress revealed. “It’s a case of trying to, like, get people into the right places, but yeah, everyone has been very supportive and I’m very supported by my old co-stars.”

Emma used the app to invite some of the cast members to the screening of Beauty and the Beast. As we reported earlier, both Tom Felton and Matthew Lewis came out to support her!

And lastly fans can catch Bonnie Wright at EM Con at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena on both Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 for the third annual TV and film convention. You can get an autograph from her for £35 and a photo with her for £40. Miriam Margoyles (Professor Sprout) will also be there.

Thanks again fans for joining us for another cast round-up this week! We can’t wait to see what our favorite Harry Potter stars will be involved in next. Keep checking back as we try to keep you as up to date as possible with all of their latest projects.
