PoA has Record-breaking Opening in UK

PoA opened in the UK today (on a national holiday) to what, as was expected, is the biggest opening day in UK history. It grossed about $9 million from 535 locations, in one day, which is higher than HPSS ($3.9 million) and HPCOS ($3.99 million) combined. Salon Magazine asks whether anyone really cares about the upcoming summer blockbusters. The article implies that Azkaban may be an exception to this summer’s hype, as “Alfonso Cuaron stands a good chance of finally rescuing the Harry Potter series from the numbing ‘faithfulness’ of Chris Columbus.”

Starting today, until Saturday June 12, readers can start collecting Harry Potter character pins – they’re two dollars with the token from The Daily Telegraph, and there are, in total, 11 pins in all to collect.
