Thankful…

As I write this, I’m taking a break from packing. Sir Dragon Preacher and I are going to be heading out tomorrow after work to share Thanksgiving with Crafty Witch Quietish. Obviously, with the holiday coming up here in the states, it is only natural to think about things you are grateful for. I have many — my husband and children, my mum. Even though they’ve passed through the veil, my father and grandmother, my uncle. My aunt.

I’m thankful that my life has not been all joy and happy and easy for the rough spots and problems have given me a greater appreciation of the good moments and happy events.

I’m thankful that my grandmother took time from her day to show me the art of crochet and instill a love of it in me. She planted a seed that has grown in so many directions and with some surprising results. It led to trying other crafts over the years, staying with some and not taking up others. It brought friends into my circle and we discovered other common bonds that have kept us together over the years.

I’m thankful that these friends, in turn, introduced me to new things and especially that one of those things was a series of books about a boy named Harry Potter. The combination of crafting and Harry Potter began leading more and more friends into my life and eventually, one of them led me to here, The Leaky Cauldron.

Would I have found TLC eventually if I didn’t craft? Maybe, we’ll never know. But I did find it through the crafts area first and have been here ever since. For that, I am thankful that someone took an idea and ran with it. Others joined in and were willing to work and help that idea flourish into what is now TLC.
