Crafting ADD

I’m having issues today. I woke up not feeling well – a stiff neck/back and a headache – so have decided that after a quick Tai Chi stretch-out session and hot shower I will spend the day resting and crafting. Feeling pretty smug, too, for being so proactive instead of whiny – as I would usually be. The problem? What to craft?!?

Sitting on the couch waiting for me is a project for a friend’s upcoming birthday. It’s gorgeous, it’s almost done, and it’s driving me insane! I’ve been on the same row of the border for the past 2 days, and am starting to think that there may be a mistake in the instructions. My brain tells me to get stuck in, figure it out, and get it done. That makes sense, does it not?

Then I look up. My glance falls lovingly on the sewing machine that I have carted out of my bedroom into the living room, caressing the half-done twin sized quilt for my son’s bed that is folded on top of the cabinet. You see, as much as I need to finish the craft that’s driving me insane, my heart wants me to sit at the sewing machine. I can almost hear the soft whirring of the motor as I run fabric through it. I can almost feel the soft fabric in my hands. Sounds blissful, hmmm?

Then I look to my left. In my cubby beside my fireplace sit two boxes overflowing with crafts that need packaged and mailed out. One of them should have been mailed out in March, the other a month ago. Both just need a little something extra added to them before they are ready, and a little handmade card. Now I’m thinking that I should just crank those out and get them in the post. The thought of pulling out the scrapbooking mess and all of the items needed to add that “little something extra” irritates me almost to the point of hives because if I pull it out I’ll eventually have to pick it all up and put it back. You see the dilemma?

So, peeps, enquiring minds want to know! What would you do? Would you:

  1. Finish the almost done birthday gift?
  2. Give in to the heart’s desire and spend the day sewing?
  3. Work on getting the now very belated parcels in the mail?

Just leave me a comment letting me know your opinion – or, if you’d rather, you can just send your thoughts to [email protected]

Hugs & chocolate~
