Disney continues to one-up itself with every new promotional release and, today, it did not disappoint! They unveiled the largest poster yet, giving fans a glimpse of multiple settings from the upcoming live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast.

The poster gives us a vision of two worlds, separated by the central characters on whom the future of all involved rests. They are the fulcrum tentatively balancing two fates. How will the story end?

On the left sits the enchanted castle blanketed in snow, as cold without as it is within. Inside the Beast haunts the halls, grieved over the loss of his humanity and doubtful he will ever regain it. Pictured around the grounds are his faithful servants, Lumiere, Cogsworth, and the wardrobe, in their charmed forms as household items. Lumiere’s candles glimmer faintly, as they alone hold out hope the spell will ever be broken. Gaston (Luke Evans) smirks and plots in the foreground with Le Fou (Josh Gad) at his back. And Maurice (Kevin Kline), Belle’s father, looks on from behind with concern. In the distance, surrounded by an ice-encrusted forest, stands Belle, Emma Watson of Harry Potter fame, alone. The scene shows us what’s at stake.

The middle scene cuts to the castle interior. Belle and the Beast (Dan Stevens) dance atop a magnificent staircase. Their closeness shows how far the friendship has come. Belle lights up the panel, in the same way she brings light to lives once steeped in darkness. But the ending still remains uncertain. An aging, broken ceiling hovers above them, symbolizing the tentative, fragile nature of the relationship.

On the right, Disney grants us a view of the castle restored to its former glory, inhabited again by loyal subjects and staff in a resplendent ballroom scene. It’s bathed in a warm glow, yellow tones to contrast the blue-hued chill of their previous existence. Characters smile and celebrate in human form: Ewan McGregor as Lumière, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, Audra McDonald as Garderobe, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts. The forest is mossy green, flower-dotted, and alive once more–a happily ever after, indeed.

The poster is a breathtaking introduction to the grand scale of the classic’s retelling. View the full poster, revealed by Yahoo Movies, below.
