Our own ‘fantastic’ four, (yes, pun intended), sat down for “Flicks with Patrick Stoner” to talk about their involvement in the magical film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Though we heard them talk about the film for months in the lead up to the November release, and then again during the height of the promotional wave, every clip that surfaces is still a delightful snippet of insight for the fans–especially as we anticipate the upcoming Blu-Ray release, March 28th!

In the new interview clip with Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein) and Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski), Stoner gets them to talk about the journey they’re on with their characters–how they’re relatable in a way that makes you care about them and root for them. They also discuss how the stories tap into the youthful openness and scope for imagination that makes this film, and the Harry Potter films, so broadly appealing and inspiring.

Whyy Flicks also tracked down Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander) and Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein). In the interview clip, they talk about the paradox inherent in bringing characters to screen, accessing the heart and proper motivations of a character while also being on set, distracted by the film-making process. Stoner also notes the paradox that is Newt, himself. He’s both vulnerable and closed-off, extremely caring and compassionate toward his creatures while painfully unable to relate to the people around him. Redmayne observes this makes Newt a very unlikely hero, but the sincerity of the character’s struggle and his growth throughout the film make him all the more heroic and accessible to the viewer.

We fall more in love with these actors and their characters every time we see them, and we echo Waterston herself when she says of their futures, “I’m so excited to see where these characters will go!”
